Saint Gorakumbhar, also known as Sant Goroba, was a revered 13th-century saint and poet from Maharashtra, India. Gorakumbhar was a staunch devotee of Lord Vithoba (a form of Lord Krishna) of Pandharpur. Gorakumbhar was born in the village of Satyapuri (modern-day Ter) in Maharashtra. He belonged to the potter community, and "kumbhar" means potter in Marathi, indicating his profession before he devoted himself to spiritual pursuits.
His devotion to Vithoba was profound, and he spent his life singing bhajans (devotional songs) and composing abhangs (devotional poetry) dedicated to the deity. Several miraculous incidents are associated with Gorakumbhar's life, highlighting his unwavering faith and the divine grace he received. One popular incident tells of how he continued to chant the Lord's name even while working on his potter's wheel, signifying his deep, unbroken devotion.
